State College Little Lions Defeat Altoona Lady Lions Behind Strong Performance From Addison Harpster

Addison Harpster struck out 10 batters as the right-handed pitcher led State College Little Lions past Altoona Lady Lions 5-4 on Tuesday. Harpster allowed one hit and two runs over five innings while walking two.
A solo home run to center field by Kaya Sprankle on a full count put Altoona on the board in the top of the first.
State College took the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Paige Moriarta singled to center field, and Harpster grounded out, each scoring one run.
The Little Lions committed an error, which helped the Lady Lions tie the game at two in the top of the third.
A sacrifice bunt by Natalie Baker gave Altoona the lead, 3-2, in the top of the fifth.
State College jumped into the lead in the bottom of the fifth when Harpster singled, scoring two runs, and a passed ball scored one run.
Charli Schneider took the loss for the Lady Lions. The lefty went six innings, surrendering five runs (four earned) on eight hits, striking out six and walking two. Moriarta appeared in relief for the Little Lions.
Harpster provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led State College with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Jessica Hawbaker and Sydney Wells each collected two hits for State College.
Jayda Yost, Sprankle, Lilly Snyder, and Baker each collected one hit for Altoona. Sprankle, Skyler Reed, and Baker each drove in one run for the Lady Lions. Altoona had a strong eye at the plate, collecting five walks for the game. Sprankle and Graycie Price led the team with two free passes each. The Lady Lions were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Yost had the most chances in the field with seven.
