By Kenny Varner

LEWISTOWN – In a first half low scoring affair, the State College Little Lions Pee Wee team outlasted an inspired group of Panthers from Lewistown in the next to the last game Saturday in the Juniata Valley Football League’s Bowl Weekend, falling 22-0.

State College scores first when it mounted a long time consuming 13-play drive that ate up all but 2:53.

Marshall Shaner got the scoring started breaking loose from the line and secondary and blazed his way to a 34-yard scamper. With the successful PAT, the Little Lions took a 7-0 advantage.

For the rest of the first half, both defenses took over and kept each other at-bay until the halftime buzzer sounded.

Shaner led the first half rushing stats with 46 yards on the ground.

In the opening Lewistown opening possession disaster almost struck as State College recovered a fumble deep in the Panthers end.

But the defense stuck and despite having a 1st and goal from the 10, the Lewistown squad averted a touchdown.

State College would do the Panthers one better, forcing a Saftey after the strong stand of Lewistown, making it 9-0.

State College got the ball back and went right back to work in the Panthers side of the field.

But before they knew what hit them, State College running back Troy Baldinucci got free out around the end and blazed his way for a 33-yard touchdown run, upping it to a 15-0 State College advantage.

With the touchdown run, Baldinucci reached the 60-yard rushing mark.

With the wet conditions, the Panther fumbled once again in the third as State College’s Evan Valeri would recover the ball once again deep in Panther territory.

State College’s Dexter Walker added to the SC lead as he scored from beyond five yards out, upping it to 22-0 with still 4:41 left.

But that would be all the scoring in the contest as the Lions made it 3-0 on the day for Centre County teams.
