State College tops Bellefonte in 12U all-star action

BELLEFONTE – It was a battle of the unbeatens Thursday night as the Bellefonte 12Us went up against a very tough State College team in the second round of the District 5 All-Star playoffs.

It would be a close one early but it would be the team from State College that would come out victorious on the night, winning 10-5 as they upped its record to 2-0.

In two games, the State College team has outscored its opponents 44-5 as its offense has shined throughout.

However, Bellefonte went toe-to-toe with State for a majority of the contest, keeping it a tied game at 5-5 after five.

But in the final stanza, State College brought out the bats, posting five runs and then held on for the victory.

Michael Gaul started on the mound for State College as he went up against Bellefonte hurler Peyton Vancas.

In the first, State College plated a run as Davin Kenderick scores on a Gaul double.

State College added on to its lead in the second, posting four runs in the second.

Nate Musser, Asher Cunningham, Rhoades and Kenderick all scored.

Kenderick highlighted the inning with.a home run, making it 5-0.

Trailing by five going into the bottom of the third, Bellefonte rallied back to tie the game at five.

Playing runs in the inning were Tate Tooker, Cameron Carson, Vancas, Isaac Gall and Keece McCloskey.

With game tied until the fifth.

But State College scored two in the fifth and three in the sixth to hold onto the victory.
