State College tops East Pennsboro for Mid-Penn title

State College Lady Lions took the lead late and defeated East Pennsboro Varsity Panthers 4-2 on Thursday in the Mid-Penn Championship game. The game was tied at two with State College batting in the bottom of the fifth when Olivia McTavish’s sac fly scored one run for the Lady Lions.
State College got things moving in the first inning. Sydney Wells doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.
The East Pennsboro Panthers knotted the game up at two in the top of the fourth inning. East Penn scored two runs when Irys Kline homered.
Zia Bodnar took the win for State College. The righty lasted seven innings, allowing two hits and two runs while striking out nine and walking one.
Jackie Capers took the loss for East Pennsboro. The righty went six innings, allowing four runs on nine hits, striking out five and walking zero.
The Lady Lions tallied nine hits in the game. Wells and Ava Bierly each had multiple hits for State College. Wells led the Lady Lions with three hits in three at bats.
