State has strong performance against young Huskies

BURNHAM – It was another strong performance by the veteran State College Swim team as they defeated MIfflin County 105-56 on the girls’ side and 113-6 on the boys.

MIfflin County has just one member on the boys side.

Leading way for State College was Returning PIAA state champion Matt Brownstead.

On Thursday, Brownstead took top honors in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle with times of 20.42 and 46.31, respectively.

Brownstead was also a member of the winning 200-yard medley relay (1:48.60). Also on the team was Ryan Willis, Matthew Allgeier and Garrick Zheng.

He was also part of the winning squad of the 200-yard freestyle relay along with Allgeier, Willis and Zheng. They finished with a time of 1:37.45.

In the 200-yard freestyle, the Little Lions’ Erik Witt  finished at the top spot with a time of 1:54.82.

Teammate Isaiah Clark won the men’s 200-yard IM with a time of 2:11.44.

Clark also topped the 100-yard breaststroke race with a time of 1:05.22.

Willis took top honors in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.46.

Collin Leve has his time to shine when he captured the 100-yard back stroke with a top time of 58.54.

The State boys finished their night with a first place finish of 4:06.38.

On the girls’ side, the Little Lions started out with a win in the 200-yard medley with a time of 2:03.26.

In the girls 200-yard freestyle Lauren Grello took the top nod with a time of 2:15.75.

Lizzy Johnson won the 200-yard IM with a top time of 2:24.36.

In the 100-yard butterfly, Lily Bang finished with a “Bang” capturing first place with a winning time of 1:05.76.

She also won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:07.9.

State College continued its winning ways with a first place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:54.18.

Meredith Sulman took care of the 100-yard breaststroke as she posted a winning time of 1:19.46.

The girls ended like it started as it posted a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
