Strohecker’s hat trick leads the Mifflin County girls to the D6 title game

BELLEFONTE – Unfinished business.

Last season the Mifflin County girls soccer team defeated State College to earn their way to their very first District 6 Championship game.

However, the team never got a chance to play in it due to Covid-19.

This season, the Lady Huskies found themselves in similar circumstances to go through all over again, facing their Centre County rival State college.

State College defeated the Huskies in their regular season match up.

But the night belonged to Mifflin County and sharpshooter Aubrey Strohecker.

Strohecker scored all three of the Huskies goal, en route to the hat trick and the 3-1 victory over the Little Lions in a very thrilling affair.

It also marks the chance for Mifflin County to add another chapter to their resume in a championship appearance.

Strohecker got her team started quickly as she broke free down underneath a blasted a shot that sizzled past the State College goalie. She was assisted on the play by Sarah Henry at 1:13.

Both teams settled in and the game became an evenly played battle.

The Huskies had their chances as they continually put the ball in positions to score

However, the State College defense would not waver the rest of the first half.

As the first half started to wind down, State College’s Mia Reese was able to sneak one past Bailey McNitt at the 33:20 mark.

Going into the third quarter, the game was a nail biting back and forth contest for the first 10 minutes.

But Strohecker’s second goal of the night put the Huskies in good position, scoring at the 62:25 mark thanks to another Henry assist.

At 69:14,  Strohecker gave her team all the insurance they would need as Mifflin County finished the game with the 3-1 victory.

Mifflin County outshot State College 10-2.

In corner kicks, Mifflin County held the slight edge 3-2.
