Strong Hitting Not Enough As State College Varsity Lady Lions Falls To McDowell Varsity Trojan

The State College Lady Lions fell 5-2 to McDowell Varsity Trojan on Tuesday despite out-hitting them eight to three. Sydney Wells led State College with three hits.
A grand slam to center field by Izzy Nageli put McDowell on the board in the bottom of the second.
Gabby DeLuca earned the win for McDowell Varsity Trojan. They surrendered eight hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out 10 and walking one. Addison Harpster took the loss for the Lady Lions. The starting pitcher went six innings, surrendering five runs (four earned) on three hits, striking out five and walking five.
Sarah Mellott led State College with one run batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Tori Kroboth collected two hits for the Lady Lions in three at bats.
Chloe Shattuck, Alex Smith, and Nageli each collected one hit for McDowell Varsity Trojan. Nageli went 1-for-2 at the plate as the leadoff hitter led the team with four runs batted in. McDowell had patience at the plate, amassing five walks for the game.
