Supelco outlasts Ports/Logan in thriller

Good to the last run.

In Bellefonte Minor League action, Supelco and Ports/Logan played a Little League instant classic as they combined for 29 runs and 30 hits.

Going into its final at bats, Supelco was trailing 14-13 but a 2RBI clutch single by Harrison Hoover ended the contest and gave his team the walk off win.

Picking up the win for Supelco was Ryan Hepfer coming into relief in the top of the sixth and refused to allow a run as he struck out two.

The “Orange and White” has numerous multiple hitters.

Leading the way was Hoover with three hits, three runs scored and an RBI.

Teammate Owen Wolfe also posted a 3-hit contest, highlighted by a triple and three runs scored.

Rounding out the three hit performances for Supelco was Carter Guindon he also scored three times and had four RBIs on the evening.

Ports/Logan was led by the offensive prowess of Rylan Lucas who went 4-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBIs.

Karlei Alterio finished with three hits and an RBI.

Teammate Chase Hall rounded out the 3-hit batters for Ports/Logan.

Going into the sixth, Ports/Logan held a 14-13 advantage.

Hepfer was right on target with his pitches sending down 3-of-5 batters that faced him in the inning, setting stage for the excitement to come.

With one out, Wolfe got things started blasting a single into left field.

Guindon also sent a laser to left, scoring Wolfe who had previous stole second and third, tying it at 14.

Seth Munchmore kept the rally going, walking on four pitches.

That would set the stage for Hoover.

Hoover ended the game bringing in Guindon on a tough hopper to short.

Ironically, it would be Hoover that scored his team’s first run of the game for his team.

Ports/Logan got the game off and running, plating three runs in the bottom of the first.

Hall singled to start off the game and stole second and third.

He then scored on a Supelco miscue, making it 1-0.

Lucas picked up his first hit when he hit a soft chopper to the pitcher.

Damien Orfanouddakis followed with a walk to load the bases.

Alterio singled in Martin.

Lucah Sproveri walked in Lucas to end the scoring, giving the visitors an early 3-0 advantage.

Back battled Supelco in the bottom of the inning, cutting it to one.

Hoover led of his part of the inning with a single into left. He later stole second and then third.

Lindon Fost followed with a walk.

Hayden Gray hit in Hoover, cutting it to a 3-1 contest.

Fost would later score on a single by Gray.

Ports/Logan added to its lead reaching the 5-run inning mark, increasing its lead to 8-2.

Supelco clawed and scratched its way back in the bottom of the inning, getting back three runs of their own to trail only by three, 8-5.

Ports added one more run to its lead in the third highlighted by another single and run by Hall.

Hall was batted in by Martin.

After holding them to one run, Supelco was able to cut the lead to only one, scoring three runs thanks to its middle and bottom part of the batting order.

Scoring in the inning was Ruger Auman, Dean Butts and Guindon.

Defensively in the fourth, Supelco kept Ports/Logan off the scoreboard.

The home team chipped into the lead once again, playing one and made it a closer contest.

In the fifth, Port/Logan added more vision back to its lead, posting another 5-run inning.

Supelco cut things again, this time scoring four runs, setting the scene for the final stanza.

When the two teams left the field both should have held their heads hi as they left everything all on the field.
