Swartz hits milestone for Indians

Courtesy of Juniata Athletic Department

Josie Swartz just got her 100th goal. A header on corner kick at 57:42 second half.

Josie’s Goals by year:
Freshman – 7
Sophomore – 21
Junior – 44
Senior – 26 (so far)

From Coach Brian Strawser:

Josie has been a four year starter for us and has certainly been a very important part of the success we’ve had. She’s been a part of three straight Tri-Valley League championship teams, one District VI championship, and one District VI runner-up. One factor that makes her career goal total mark so impressive is that her freshman and sophomore years she was a defender for us. She has always been an extremely hard worker both in practice and during games. You never have to question what kind of effort she will give. It is always 100%. I’ve never seen her take a day off regarding the effort she gives.

From Joe Skura, Athletic Director

This is an exciting and impressive accomplishment for Josie, and we are very proud of her. It is also an accomplishment for the Juniata girls’ soccer program and the coaches. Anytime a team or player reaches a milestone, it is a tribute to the program, its athletes, and its leadership. I’m really proud of Josie, Coach Strawser and Coach Alderfer, and the team.
