Sydnie Dalton A Difficult Out As Penns Valley Defeats Southern Huntingdon

Sydnie Dalton collected four hits in five at bats, as Penns Valley defeated Southern Huntingdon 10-2 on Monday. Dalton singled in the seventh inning, doubled in the second inning, singled in the fifth inning, and singled in the sixth inning.

The Lady Rams won thanks in part to six runs in the seventh inning.  Callie Riddle drew a walk, scoring one run, Ella Young induced Elle Dinges to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, Taylor Bumgardner doubled, scoring one run, Dalton singled, scoring two runs, and Emily Wert singled, scoring one run.

Penns Valley were the first to get on the board in the second when Clara Brooks singled, scoring one run.

The Lady Rams added one run in the third after Wert grounded out.

Bumgardner stepped in the circle first for Penns Valley. The righty gave up six hits and two runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out nine and walking two. Young stepped in the circle first for Southern Huntingdon. The starting pitcher surrendered 10 hits and nine runs (three earned) over six and one-third innings, striking out two and walking four.

The Lady Rams collected 12 hits in the game. Bumgardner drove the middle of the lineup, leading Penns Valley with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-5 on the day. Wert collected two hits for Penns Valley in four at bats.

Lydia Dell and Emma Smith were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Southern Huntingdon. Young went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Southern Huntingdon in hits.
