Submitted
The boys were led by Junior Logan Strawser.  Logan was crowned TVAA Champion with his first place finish of 18:44 on the brutal Susquenita course.  Logan made a move half way through the race to open up a gap on Susuquenita standout runner Michael Singley.  He won by 0:19.
Freshman Joey Bomberger came in next for the Indians in 3rd place with a time of 20:24.
Freshman Wyatt Stroup followed with a 7th place finish in a time of 21:23.  Senior Micah Fausey cracked the top ten with his tenth place finish in a time of 21:57.  Freshman Charlie Telfer was the final scoring runner for the Indians with his 31st place finish in 27:00.  Senior Noah Sheaffer finished in 38th place with a time of 29:38.
The Juniata boys won the team competition over Susquenita 27 – 30.  Upper Dauphin, West Perry, Greenwood, Susquenita, and West Shore Christian Academy competed in the championship.  Thirty nine runners took part in the event.  Coach Jeff Miller said “I was extremely pleased how every boy ran.  Shari and I expressed how this was one of their most important races as a team before the meet.  They all ran their hearts out and we can’t be more pleased.  Most of them dropped several minutes off of their time when we raced here 3 weeks ago.  I was very happy to see Senior Micah Fausey crack the top ten.  He has been a little off this year with knee problems, but ran his heart out today for the team.  To see freshman Joey Bomberger place 3rd overall and Wyatt Stroup 7th is exciting for the future of Juniata Cross Country.”
The girls were led by freshman runner Jessie Bomberger.  She finished 8th overall in a time of 27:40.  Senior Emily Houtz finished 9th with a time of 27:50.  Sophomore Haley Mummah made the top 10 podium with her 10th place finish in a time of 28:32.  Elizabeth Gaisior and Peyton Sheaffer rounded out the scoring for the Indians with their 18th and 20th place finishes with times of 32:05 and 34:19 respectively.  Joceline Telfer placed 23rd with a time of 52:46.  The girls team was crowned TVAA Champions for the second year in a row.  Twenty three girls competed in the event.  Coach Jeff Miller said “It was exciting to see the girls pull out another TVAA championship title.  We couldn’t have done it without soccer players Jessie Bomberger and Haley Mummah.  I’m very thankful their soccer coach allowed them to skip practice to help out our girls cross country team.  I was wowed by Jessie’s performance today.  She only runs part time and dropped over 4:00 off of her time on this course from 3 weeks ago.  She is a fighter.  She will give you 100% and is not afraid of hard work.  All the girls gave it their best when it mattered.  I can’t be more pleased.”
Juniata competes again against Newport on October 12that Little Buffalo State Park.
