Terrace’s Rodriguez runs for 200 yards; Terrace tops Juniata

LEWISTOWN – It was a tale of two halves in the Central Keystone Football and Cheer League’s Liberty Bowl.

Juniata met Terrace with the chance for third place in the Midget Division.

In the end, the Terrace Tigers took the contest 27-8.

All 27 points came in the second half and by running back Raul Rodriguez who scored three of his team’s four second half and in those touchdowns he tallied up 135 yards on his three carries. In total, he rushed for just under 200 yards rushing.

In the first half, Juniata’s offense were led by running back Camden Bargo, who rushed for 71 first half yards along with a touchdown.

Unfortunately for Juniata, Bargo would leave the game early in the third via an injury.

But in the first, Bargo got the Indians on the scoreboard first, spearheading a 8-play drive. He finished off the drive with an 8-yard run, giving the Indians a 6-0 advantage at the 6-minute mark.

The Tigers held steady on the extra point and kept the Indians from the extra point.

Both teams defenses settled in and the teams exchanged punts twice.

On the Indians second punt, the Tigers were forced deep into their own territory.

Juniata forced a fourth down deep and then picked up a saftey as the ball sailed over the punter’s head, ending the first half scoring with the Indians leading 8-0.

Terrace busted out of the intermission with a Bang! As Rodriguez got the first play from scrimmage and rambled for a 50-yard run. The extra point failed, leaving Juniata holding to a very slim 8-6 lead.

But then Bargo got hurt and was taken off the field.

Terrace again got the ball back to its offense and again Rodriguez made the most of it. He once again got around the right end and sailed down the sidelines for another 50-yard touchdown. Again, the Indians held Terrace from getting an extra point. But the Tigers still held the lead 12-6.

Minutes later, the Tigers would find itself extending the lead as Rodriguez blazed away around the right side once again, this time on a 38-yard touchdown, upping it to a 20-8 lead in the winding minutes of the third.

In the final stanza, Terrace added another touchdown to end the scoring at 27-8.
