The Juniata boys cross country team placed 8 out of the top 10 runners to win another TVAA league meet on the toughest cross country course in Pennsylvania.  Brubaker cruises to victory in girls race.

The Juniata boys cross country team took wins against all opponents on Tuesday, September 10 at Susquenita High School.  The course is basically a trail race on the mountain behind the high school.  In the boys race, senior Joey Bomberger won the race in a time of 19:42 while teammate Wyatt Stroup came in shortly after in 2nd place with a time of 20:39.  Juniata took 3rd, 4th, and 5th places with Levi Zeiders 20:52, Wesley Ehrisman 20:57, and Ricky Guante 21:36.  Other Juniata boys finishers in the top 10 were Coy Kerstetter 7th in a time of 21:59, Teagan Trout 9th in a time of 23:19, and Josiah Barner 10th in a time of 23:23.  Other Juniata boys results are listed below.

Juniata coach Jeff Miller said “It was great to get in some good hill work on the extremely difficult Susquenita cross country course today since we are in our hill phase of training right now.  It was nice to have our three soccer players Ricky, Josiah, and Alejandro to run for us today since it was their first cross country meet this season.”

In the girls race, sophomore Sylvia Brubaker took another win with a time of 23:06.  Freshman Carolyn Heidenreich was next for the Indians with a 6th place finish in a time of 29:33.  Freshman Hannah Zeiders came in right behind Carolyn in 7th place with a time of 29:34.  Juniata took a win against Upper Dauphin 6 – 15, but loss to St. Joe’s 12 – 9 and Newport 29 – 28.

Juniata coach Jeff Miller said “For Sylvia, Carolyn, and Hannah, it was their first time racing this very difficult course and they ran well.  We didn’t want to run too hard today since we have a big cross country invitational on Friday at Penn State.
