Three on Three: Saint Joseph’s trio sign letter of intent

Editor’s Note: Hometown Sports Editor-In-Chief Kenny Varner got to speak to three talented athletes from Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy recently after they signed their letters of intent to continue their careers at the next level. They were Clare Marsh, Amonn Ohl, and Morgan Wolf. Varner asked them about their past, present and future as they head to a new chapter in their life.

First up was Morgan Wolf, who will attending Thiel College for softball, as she talked right after signing her letter of intent.

HS: What Made you select Thiel College?

MW: I applied to different colleges and I wanted to go to where it best fit for me. When I stepped on the campus that’s when I knew it was the place for me. They had a lot to offer and they were really felt really welcomed there and it fit me.

HS: How did you feel when you got the confirmation that you’d be going there?

MW: It was very exciting! Probably the best news of my life. It was something I dreamed of all my life. I was excited and overwhelmed.

HS: Looking back at your career and your softball career and being apart of the first year of the Saint Joseph’s program?

MW: I’ve been playing softball my whole life through Little League, All-Stars and travel ball so being able to play high school ball in its first year it was exciting, it’s been really fun. It was a learning experience but something I have fun with. I made a lot of memories.

Next up was Wolfpack wrestler Amonn Ohl, who signed up to go to Division 1’s Edinboro.

HS: How does it feel to be heading to wrestle at Edinboro?

AO: I’m super excited! I fell in love with the school as soon I got on the campus. I really liked the coaches there. I’m so excited to make it official.

HS: Looking back at your career did it seem to fly by?

AO: It definitely went by pretty fast. I remember my first district tournament. Now four years later I’m heading to Edinboro. It just feels great!

HS: What’s your goals going forward at the next level?

AO: I want to make it to the podium at Nationals one day! That’s always the goal for most wrestlers going D1.

Lastly, Hometown Sports talked to hurdler Clare Marsh, who is heading to Catholic University of America in Washington, DC.

HS: How does it feel to be taking that next step of your career and heading down to go to school in Washington?

CM: I’m really excited. It’s been a long journey. The pandemic really threw some challenges at me but I’m really excited to be competing this season and have a few weeks left to do some great things so I’m excited for what’s coming next.

HS: What was your reaction when you found out you were accepted?

CM: I was really excited! It was a long challenging recruiting process given the pandemic. It was hard to make visits and meet people. But we went to Catholic in February and I just knew it was the right place for me. I had that feeling on campus.

HS: What have been some of your special moments in your high school career?

CM: I think qualifying for states my freshman year that got me set up for what that competitive atmosphere is like. Coming into my sophomore year I was ready to go. I had a good performance that year. After missing out on my junior year I’m excited about showing up in a few weeks and really make an impact.

HS:? What is your favorite event you compete in?

CM: Probably the 300-meter hurdles. I like all my events but I think the 300’s my favorite. It’s fun to do the 4×4 with my teammates and starting the meets with the 100-hurdles.

HS: What are your goals going into college?

CM: I want to qualify for the NCAA championships. That’s my goal. I want to get out there and make an impact at the next level and show how hard it work.
