Truly a Classic! MC Majors Super Series was truly a Super one for both Blue Rock and Greater Vision!

LEWISTOWN-  Never question the heart of champions.

Monday night, MIfflin County’s Major League regular season champion, Blue Rock went up against Greater Vision in what would end up being an epic finish in the MC Major League Super Series.

Greater Vision scored early and often to build a 7-0 advantage before Blue Rock would get a 2-out rally going before falling just short 7-5 before Greater Vision was able to end the Orioles’ rally.

In the end, Greater Vision got the win but it was not without Blue Rock having the realization that they gave it all the had and went down swinging.

Picking up the win on the day was Ezra Beamer while Carson Cherry would get the save.

Offensively, Greater Vision made the most of its early innings.

The future of MIfflin County baseball is in good hands after fans witnessed the true meaning of “Leaving it all on the field”.

Both teams did just that.

In the top of the final stanza, Greater Vision held a 6-0 advantage.

Jake Knable got the inning going with a walk. He attempted to steal second and then reached third when the ball scooted out to centerfield on a throw from the catcher.

He later scored, upping the lead to 7-0.

With its last at bats, the Orioles’ chances of a comback looked slim as it quickly posted two quick outs.

Then the rally started very innocently when Blaze Shreffler  sent a sizzler down the third baseline for a single.

He stole second and moved up to third on a Greater Vision miscue on a Chase Krepps at bat.

Parker Feltenberger smashed a gapper to centerfield, scoring Shreffler easily.

Thad Gerwick followed with a laser shot down third, scoring both Krepps and Feltenberger on the play.

Karl Shirey kept the hot hitting going, sending a towering shot over the centerfield fence for the 2-run roundtripper, cutting the deficit to 7-5.

But the Greater Vision defense held and ended the game.

But it would be a comeback attempt that wouldn’t soon be forgotten to all who watched.

In the first, Knable led off the game with a single to left.

He stole second and moved to third on a fielder’s choice by Cherry.

Gatlin Kauffman’s RBI single to right scored Knable to give Greater Vision a 1-0 advantage.

Despite getting runners in scoring position, Blue Rock was held scoreless thanks to big defensive efforts by Greater Vision.

With a 1-0 advantage, Greater Vision added to its lead on another single by Knable. He notched his second stolen base and then scored on a error by Blue Rock.

Again, the Greater Vision defense was up for the challenge in the second, keeping their opponent scoreless once again.

Greater Vision added two more runs in the third.

Scoring in the inning were Beamer and Shane Moist, upping the lead to 4-0.

In the fourth, Greater Vision again had its bats going by adding two more runs.

Scoring the runs were Cherry and Kauffman.

In the end, the game couldn’t be more self explanatory, it was definitely a Super Series!!
