Two for one: Interview with Bellefonte Stand outs Rossman and Garner

Recently Hometown Sports Correspondent Tara Richner got the chance to meet up with Bellefonte Student Athletes, Lily Gardner and Ethan Rossman to ask them a few questions about this past athletic season while dealing with Covid guidelines, and what their future plans are after high school.

HS: Do you feel that having an unlimited amount of spectators this year affected your performance?  How important are your fans?

Lily : Absolutely, the energy in the stands was just as important as the energy on the bench.  The fans are what makes the game so involved.

Ethan : Not having the fans there was weird, there wasn’t the noise and you could tell it was different.  Knowing they are all watching a different way made up for it though.

HS: What has been one of the biggest struggles you’ve had to deal with COVID and being an athlete?

Lily G.: It was having to do long practices and games that take away your only way of relief.  You also don’t get the great pictures and moments of seeing everyone’s reactions.

Ethan: Not being able to have some of my biggest supporters there, that really sucked.

HS: What are your plans after high school?

Lily : I plan to attend Lock Haven to get a majors degree in athletic training and join the ROTC program until I figure out what branch of the military I would like to join.

Ethan : Attend Lock Haven University to wrestle and major in Criminal Justice.

HS: How long have you played the current sports you are in?

Lily : I have played softball for 10 years, 6 of those are for Bellefonte.  I have played basketball for 5 years and volleyball for 2 years also with Bellefonte.

Ethan : I have been wrestling for 11 years. I’ve been playing football for 10 years.

HS: What are 2 of your favorite moments this year so far?

Lily : Winning the first district title for Bellefonte Volleyball since 1999, I believe, and being able to hold a 500 record in the regular season of basketball.

Ethan : Winning the District Championship for wrestling and just being with the team.

HS: What is one piece of advice you’d like to offer younger athletes?

Lily : Never let someone that is framed better than you define how much you achieve in the sport or class you are taking.  Strive for excellence at your level.  Your biggest opponent will always be yourself, not your teammates

Ethan : Always keep working hard because you never know when it will end.

HS: Do you think Mason Jackson could be called your Number one fan?

Lily : Yes, he has watched me play for about 2 years now in all my sports and I have watched him grow in wrestling.  He is someone everybody needs.  Everyone needs a Mason on the sideline or, with this year cheering at home!!!

Ethan :  He would have to fight the rest of my family for that spot.
