WINGATE – Wednesday night’s contest didn’t do quite the way the Bald Eagle Area girls basketball team was hoping for.

In its last game of the season, the short staffed Bald Eagles went up against a fired up Tyrone team that was prepping for the playoffs and had a deep bench.

No matter what Golden Eagle player came in for Tyrone, they were able to keep Bald Eagle in check the entire way, posting a convincing 70-20 victory.

The Eagles were led in scoring by Maddie Perry with seven.

Teammates Lacee Barnhart and Taylor Kilmer both finished with six.

Rounding out the scorers on the day was Abby Hoover as she hit one-of-two from the free throw room.

Tyrone finished the evening with four players hitting double digit scoring.

Leading the way was Jaida Parker with 20. Emma Getz was next on the scoring sheet, posting 13.

Stephanie Ramsey and Macy Brodzina finishes with an 11-point and 10-point effort, respectively.

The Golden Eagles tallied eight triples in the night.

Things got out of hand early for the home team as Tyrone got off to a hot start.

Parker led off the game on a under the bucket hoop on the Golden Eagles’ first possession.

Seconds later, then notched a steal and went in for the lay up.

Still only minutes into the game, Tyrone forced another turnover and the ball went down court to have Parker finish off the play, giving her eight points with still 6:45 left in the opening stanza.

After leaving the Eagles empty handed on its next possession, Tyrone got the ball from beyond the arc to Ramsey.

Ramsey lined it up and hit nothing but net, upping the lead to 9-0 with still over six minutes showing on the clock.

The 3-pointer forced Bald Eagle to call a time out. But coming out of the break, the Golden Eagles forced a missed shot and was able to get Ramsey another look at a triple.

She did not disappoint as she hit her second of the game.

Emma Getz upped the lead to with 4:52 as she went into the lane for the jumper.

Perry got her team in the board at the 3:39 mark with two from the foul line.

Parker picked up her 10th point after the Perry bucket.

But team leader, Barnhart got free from beyond the three-point line and launched a three.

Tyrone ended the first period scoring, going on a 6-0 run.

Leading the final run was Parker with four while Kayelin Gibbons hit a bucket, making it a 27-5 advantage after one.

Bald Eagle struggled again offensively in the second as well, posting just five more in the period.

However, the Eagles’ defense kept things a little closer, allowing the Golden Eagles just 16 points.

Going into the half, the Golden Eagles led comfortably 43-10.

Scoring for Bald Eagle in the second were Taylor Kilmer and Barnhart. Barnhart finished with two triples.

It proved to be more of the same for the Bald Eagles in the third quarter as they found that even the Golden Eagle bench was just as potent as it pushed the game into a mercy-rule contest starting at 56-15 thanks to a triple by Getz with 3:19 left in the third.

When the abbreviated period ended, Tyrone increased its lead to 60-16.

In the fourth, Tyrone outscored the Eagles 10-4 en route to the 70-20 victory.
