Warfel helps lead Huskies to win over rival State College

STATE COLLEGE – Two long time rivals met Saturday morning in a battle of the Mid-Penn.

Mifflin County girls soccer went at it against State College.

Danielle Warfel led the charge for MIfflin County, posting two goals in the victory.

The Lady Huskies took an early lead and never looked back holding onto a 3-1 victory.

Warfel got the Huskies going offensively. She notched the goal thanks to an assist from Aubrey Strohecker at 36:01 mark.

Ella Kammerer started the offense going in the second half as she caught up to a pass from Mackenzie Peachey and hit the back of the net at 73:32.

Warfel added an insurance goal at 73:39 left in the game. Like in her first goal of the game she picked up a pass from Strohecker and put it past the State College goalie. State College refused to go away without a fight as Kendall Prehl scored for the Little Lions at 78:27.

The Huskies held the advantage in shots on goals by a 10-6 margin.

Mifflin County goalie Bailey McNitt finished with 5 saves while State College’s Megan Maher had 7.

Mifflin County improves to 5-4 and 1-3 in the Mid-Penn.

Next game for MIfflin County will be Tuesday at Lower Dauphin.
