Weekend win; Lady Raiders top West Branch

The wins keep coming.

After a slow start to the season, the wins have been coming often as of late.

Even in the recent losses, the Bellefonte girls basketball team has more than proven themselves keeping up with the best teams in the Mountain League.

Saturday the Lady Red Raiders were back on the winning track, topping West Branch 45-26.

“It was a very physical game but the team was able to fight through it to get the win,” said Bellefonte coach Marcus Toomer. “This was a nice bounce back for us after a tough loss the previous game. I am proud of our program.”

Leading the Red Raiders in scoring was Maddie Tice with 17 points.

Teammate Bella Corman rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10.

After a close first quarter where Bellefonte narrowly escaped with a 6-5, the Lady Raiders offense blew up in the second to outscore West Branch 18-6.

When the two went into the intermission, leading 25-11.

Despite being outscored 7-6, Bellefonte come back in the fourth to outscore West 15-9 and secure the victory.
