Wright brings home top honor

Cresson, PA – Mount Aloysius Jessa Wright was named the AMCC Newcomer of the Year while also earning AMCC Second Team All-Conference honors on Tuesday afternoon following an outstanding season for the freshman forward.

Wright led the Mounties and ranked 12th in the conference with 14.3 points per game, and finished second in the AMCC with 64 three-point shots made on the season. Wright shot 64-for-179 (35.8 percent) from behind the arc. She also was second on the team with 6.4 rebounds per game and led Mount Aloysius with 2.2 steals per contest on the defensive end.

Wright started all 26 games for Mount Aloysius and helped the team reach the conference playoffs for the fourth time in the last five seasons. Additionally, she was named the AMCC Player of the Week on December 19th and also earned a spot on the AMCC All-Tournament Team following a 16-point performance in the Mounties playoff loss to Penn State Behrend.

Her top performances came on December 17th when Wright recorded 24 points and 15 rebounds against Pitt-Bradford as well as a 26-point, 8-steal showing in a February 11th game against Medaille.
