Women’s Basketball Wins Third Straight over Bobcats

Cresson, PA – Led by a dominant third-quarter performance, the Mount Aloysius women’s basketball team won their third game in a row with a 72-64 victory over visiting Pitt-Greensburg on Wednesday evening.

Mount Aloysius held a 28-22 lead at halftime and led 31-24 before embarking on a dominant run. Mount Aloysius led 43-29 with 4:22 remaining in the third quarter after Kara Cordell drained a three-point shot. The lead was 45-33 with 2:34 remaining in the period, then the Mounties went on a 11-2 burst to take a commanding 56-35 advantage heading into the final quarter.

Pitt-Greensburg gradually chipped away throughout the final quarter and cut the lead to single digits with 6:04 to go in the game. The Bobcats cut the deficit to three points on two occasions in the final three and a half minutes, but the Mounties held on for the key victory.

Mount Aloysius had five players in double figures led by 16 points from Breana Kendrick, who also added five assists. Katie Bracken recorded 12 points and eight rebounds, while Jessa Wright finished with a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds. Cordell registered 11 points off the bench and Alexia Servello notched 10 points. Defensively, Wright and Kendrick each had four steals as the Mounties forced 22 Bobcat turnovers.
