YEAGERTOWN – Decatur had it’s a-game going early and often in its Mifflin County Little League Major League Softball Super Series Contest Wednesday, outscoring Yeagertown 17-3 to advance to the next round of the championship tournament.

With Yeagertown being at home, the team had two quick outs but Decatur scored on a wild pitch to plate its first run at 1-0. With two out and the bases loaded for Hannah Barlett singled in two, making it 3-0. Defense would hold keeping the score at 3-0 with Yeagertown coming to bat. In the bottom of the first  Yeagertown Alyssa Souders lead off double then a stolen base. And later scored. But the “yellow and green” would have to settle for just the one run. Second inning, with one out, Decatur quickly had runner on third. Taylor Ciccolini was knocking on the door and a wild pitch brought home runner, 4-1. The combination of Boyer and Boyer, put runners first and second. A double steal by both boyers scored thanks to an RBI single by Shilling, 5-1. A wild pitch later scored the second boyer and moved Shilling to third. When the dust settled Decatur held a strong 8-1 advantage. In the end, Decatur moved on, winning 17-3 and showing that its defense was as fierce as its hitting. Congratulations to both teams for getting that far.
