Yoder Claims Another Victory at Clinton County Speedway

Mill Hall, PA – Andrew Yoder of Selinsgrove is a top contender in the Limited Late Model division, no matter where he unloads his race car. On Friday night, he claimed his 16^th win of his career at Clinton County. “We really like racing here,” said Yoder in victory lane. “We had a hard fought battle with Mike Smith, and it was fun. If it wasn’t fun, we wouldn’t be doing this.” Other winners of the night included AJ Stroup in the Pro Stocks, Timmy Bittner of Beech Creek in the 270s, Trevor Teats in the 600s and Chris Small in the Four Cylinders.

Nick Loffredo of Avis and Lock Haven’s Denny Fourney led the field to the green flag for the start of the 25 lap main event. Loffredo led the opening lap with his son Joe Loffredo following in second and Fourney running in third. Yoder, who started fifth, moved into the runner up position by lap number five.

On the eighth circuit the caution flag waved for two cars that spun, while under the caution, Nick Loffredo went to the pit area with a flat tire, giving Yoder the race lead. With the restart, Mike Smith of Renovo was able to challenge Yoder. He made the pass for the lead as the cars exited turn two. At the race’s midway point, Smith led Yoder, Jeremey Ohl, Jim Yoder, and Joe Lusk.

On lap number 15, a steering component on Lusk’s car broke and he crashed into the wall in turns one and two. Lusk was uninjured. Smith led the field back for the restart and was able to hold off Yoder. Jim Yoder moved into third with Ohl and Joe Loffredo completing the top 5. On lap number 22, Andrew Yoder was able to get alongside Smith and challenge for the lead. The duo battled down the back stretch, with Yoder able to secure the front position and led the final four laps to earn the win. Smith finished second, Jim Yoder was third, Nick Loffredo was fourth and Tim Luben finished fifth. Sixth through tenth were Joe Loffredo, Ohl, Len Stroud, Fourney and Lusk. Heat races were won by Smith and Ohl.

AJ Stroup had the pole position for the start of the Pro Stock feature event. Stroup led the opening lap with Robert Tressler and Ray Rothfuss on his rear bumper. The event’s only caution occurred on lap number two when a pair of cars spun. AY Schilling moved into second place by lap number five, while current point leader Brandon Moser took over the fourth spot. The top four cars, Stroup, Schilling, Tressler and Moser, were all in contention for the win. Moser was able to pass Tressler on lap number ten and then began to challenge Schilling. In the final laps Schilling and Moser both challenged for the lead, in a three car battle for the win. When the checkered flag waved, Stroup claimed his first win of the season holding off Schilling, Moser, Chris Long and Tressler. “I knew that they were there,” said Stroup in victory lane. “I saw the nose of one of their cars a few times, so I knew it was going to be a close finish.” The win was Stroup’s sixth career victory at the speedway. Sixth through tenth were Rothfuss, Noah Jensen, Mark Bitler, Rich Fye, and Bradley Benton. Qualifying events were won by Jensen and Moser.

Trevor Teats started on the pole for the 600 Micro Sprint feature event. Third place starter Josh Beamer quickly advanced to the runner up position, with Eric Knopp, Jeffrey Weaver and Timmy Bittner running in the top five. The caution flag waved on lap number 5 for Knopp when his car stopped on the track.

Teats executed a perfect restart to keep Beamer and the rest of the field behind him. Bitner passed Weaver for the third position, as Johnny Smith entered the top five. The remainder of the race went caution free, with Teats leading every lap to earn his first career victory. The win came over Beamer, Bittner, Smith, and Weaver. Sixth through tenth were Cody Hauck, Dustin Roberts, Derek Swartz, Sierra Hauck, and Bryce Harro. Heat race winners were Teats and Sierra Hauck.

Denny Rinehimer and Timmy Bittner led the full field of 270 Micro Sprints to the green flag. On the opening lap three cars tangled in turn number two to bring out the red flag, all drivers were uninjured. Shaun Musser and Doug Reinhard took their cars to the pit area, while Tom Quiggle was able to rejoin for the restart.

Rinehimer led the first four circuits. As the field was coming to complete lap number five, Bittner made a pass for the lead and third place runner, Jeffrey Weaver followed in his tire track, shuffling Rinehimer back to third. Meanwhile, eleventh place starter Sean McAndrew was on the move working his way up through the field. At the halfway mark of the race, Bitter was leading Weaver, with McAndrew now up to third, Rinehimer was fourth and Bobby Sanso was fifth.

On lap number 12, McAndrew passed Weaver for second and tried to chase down Bittner. Bittner held on for the win over McAndrew. Weaver finished third followed by Brayden Spencer and Rinehimer. Sixth through tenth were Sanso, Nick Whitesel, Zachery Glass, Cody Siegel and Skeetz Hockenbrock. Heat races were won by Wyatt Rotz, Spencer, Rinehimer, and Bittner. Mathew Dixon won the consolation qualifier.

Kyle Strouse and Shawn Stahl led the field of Four Cylinder cars to the green flag for the initial start of their event. The red flag came out after Kris Orwig rolled his car in turns one and two. Upon the restart John Bower advanced from this third place starting spot to lead the opening lap. By the completion of lap number four, Small who started seventh and Blake Snyder who started eighth moved their way to the front of the field and were chasing Bower. On lap number seven, Small caught Bower and made the pass for the lead, with Snyder following him to take the second position. On lap number nine, Jimmy Moyer who started ninth moved into third place. In the final laps, Small was able to hold off Snyder to claim his first career win. Finishing third was Moyer followed by Jason Goss and Virgil Meyers. Sixth through tenth were Maddox Smith, Larry Bechtol Jr., Tyler Watson, Emily Brouse and Mike Hepler. Heat race winners were Keith Haagen, Moyer, Bower. The consy was won by Skyler Witchley.

Clinton County Speedway will feature a five division show plus kids bicycle races this coming Friday night, June 18^th presented by Century 21, 1^st Choice Realty and agent Bob Boob. On the card will be the RaceSaver Sprint Cars, Pro Stocks, 270 Micro Sprints, 600 Micro Sprints and the Four Cylinders. Kids 15 and under will compete in the kids bike races.
