Late Tuesday result: Hartley’s Outlasts Joe’s OIP in thriller

It was a nail biting debut for Mifflin County Minor League teams Hartley’s and Joe’s OIP Tuesday as the two met up at Kish Park.

In a game that would plate a total of 27 runs, the game would come down to the home team taking home the winning run to end the contest.

After the dust settled, Hartley’s would come out victorious on the night 14-13.

Picking up the win in relief was Dyson King.

Leading the offensive punch for Hartley’s was Chase Benfer with a 3-for-3 finish with three runs scored and an RBI.

Others picking up hits for Hartley’s were Ben Link, Karson Goss, RJ Link, Gabe Kahley, Alden Mosser and Kale Beaver.

All in all, Hartley’s finished with six hits.

For Joe’s OIP, the group was led by the bat of Easton Stonerook who went 3-for-3 with 2RBIs and two runs scored.

He was followed by the hitting prowess of Chris Ritter who posted a 2-for-3 performance while also scoring twice.

Others picking up hits for Joe’s was David Snyder, Eric Mathews and Connor Moist.

In the end, Joe’s finished with six hits as well.

Going into the final inning, Joe’s trailed 10-9.

In a game that had numerous lead changes and ties, they would continue the trend, coming back to take the lead 13-10.

Moist led off with a triple that rolled to deep center field. He later would take advantage of a passed ball to score, tying it at 10.

Cole Eversole followed with a walk as did Andrew Koch and Deacin Wileman, loading the bases.

Luke Warfel was hit by a pitch and picked up the RBI to put his team ahead.

Stonerook added the final two runs in the inning, giving his team so breathing room, leading 13-10.

But Hartley’s wasn’t going to let this one go down without a fight as they battled back in their last at bats.

With one out, Moore took one for the team as he was hit by a pitch.

Ben Link followed him on the base paths with a walk of his own.

Kale Beaver cleated the bases with two RBIs on a single to right.

Alden Mosser walked and both scored to take the contest on a Benfer single, ending the contest.

Hartley’s took the lead after one, holding the home field advantage.

Joe’s ties it in the beginning of the second.

But again, Hartley’s added two more to double up Joe’s 4-2.

In the top of third, Joe’s took the lead for the second time, plating three runs to go up 5-4.

Hartley’s was clutch under pressure rallying back to go ahead 9-5.

Both teams both hit four runs each in the fourth to set the stage for the nail biting final stanza.
