LEWISTOWN – The Mifflin County track team honored their seniors Tuesday as they hosted Central Dauphin East.

The boys took home a convincing 107-34 win while the girls lost a heartbreaker 70-71.

“The hard work that our teams put in during the preseason was evidenced by their performances today,” said Mifflin County coach Tamara Sechler. “The girls’ team fought hard to take the win but ended up losing the meet by only one point. The effort to win took the entire team, on the track and on the field.”

Mifflin County and CD East were pretty even in splitting scores between first, second and third place finishes. However, in this meet it came down to the relays where CD East was able to take up the win on all three events. The boys’ team had some nice performances to start the year. They were able to win all three relays and pick up many first-place finishes to take the win.

“The team has a lot of new athletes this year that were able to compete in track and field for the time. It was nice to see them enjoy competing in this sport,” said Sechler. “We finished the meet with our Senior Night recognition.”
