Mifflin County Track and Field falls to Cumberland Valley

Liberty Cook earned the recognition of the top point scorer for the Huskies. She captured eight points by placing second in the 1600m run and followed up with a first-place finish in the 800m with a time of 2:40.46. Hannah King also scored in two events. She started the meet with a second-place throw in Shot Put and finished with a first place in Discus with a throw of 77’7″. Mary Kanagy (100H), Tai Ematat (HJ, TJ), Vivian Kratzer (Discus) and Mia Coffey (3200) also contributed to the team score with second and third place finishes.

The boys 4×800 and 4×400 relays were the show-stoppers of the meet. The 3200m relay runners Tylor Druckemiller, Isaac Parks Gill, Wyatt Kauffman, and Carter Smith ran a season best time of 8:05.97 to win the event. The 1600m relay finished the meet with an exciting race, where Myka Simmons ran down the Cumberland Valley runner in the last 100m of the relay to take the win in a school record time of 3:26.20 (FAT adjusted). Joining Myka in that record performance were teammates Carter Smith, Caden Bell and Tylor Druckemiller. The Huskies were able to add 8 other first place efforts to their team score: Travis Renninger (Shot Put – 43’4″ and Discus – 134’7″), Myka Simmons (100m – 10.81HH and 200m – 22.07HH), Tylor Druckemiller (1600m – 4:36.86), Reece Bell (Javelin – 134′ 8″), Carter Smith (800m – 1:55.63), and Michael McNitt (High Jump – 5’6″). They made a great effort to take the win by scoring 9 other times, but needed more of the very important second and third place finishes.
