LEWISTOWN – It was a dark and stormy afternoon.
Despite the fact that Mother Nature ended the Upper Dauphin Versus Mifflin County Girls soccer game Saturday afternoon, the Lady Huskies had a whole days work as they dominated Upper Dauphin 4-0 in a weather-shortened contest.
Mifflin County dominated the Trojans’ end.
In just a little more than one half of play, the Lady Huskies pounded out
26 shots on goal.
Defensively, Mifflin County got strong efforts by its defensive backline as Olivia Cook, Katelyn Knable, Kaitlyn Bickhart and Kristen Milliron.
They kept the Trojans from getting any kind of good looks at the goal or forcing goalie Bailey McNitt from having to be tested.
As the starting whistle blew to start the contest, Mifflin County drove deep down into the Upper Dauphin back-third, the “Black and White” were relentless, pounding at the goal Area time-after-time.
Aubrey Strohecker was very active and she got the Lady Huskies on the board booming a blast at 37:04, making it 1-0.
After a brief visit into the Mifflin County end, the Lady Trojans watched as their field possession was taken away by a vey fast Mifflin County squad.
At 17:54, Strohecker struck again as she plastered a shot to the side of the goal as she was coming across the middle, upping it to a 2-0 contest.
Before either team could even settle back in, Mifflin County scores again.
Lily Yoder picked up a rebound from a Huskies’ previous shot and plucked it down and picked up the goal.
Yoder ended the scoring at the 11-minute mark as she plastered a shot that would sneak past Trojans’ goalie Sam Bowman.
Mifflin County goalie Bailey McNitt had one save while Bowman had 13.
As the second half got underway, the Thunder started to roar and the rain came down, finishing the contest.
The home team also led in corner shots by a 7-0 margin.
