Bald Eagle Area advances to title tilt

First game
Bald Eagle 2, Jersey Shore 0

WINGATE – In the early morning on Saturday, the Bald Eagle Area girls soccer team went up against Jersey Shore in the opening round of the BEA girls soccer tournament.
Despite being outshot in the first half, the Eagles still were able to post a goal in each half to post a 2-0 shut out.
Bald Eagle got both goals from Addison Proctor.
“The girls came out a little flat in the first half, but the second half really made the difference. We controlled the ball much better in the second half and our defense was lights out.,” Bald Eagle coach Jared Moore said. “Our forwards were really pressuring their back line and it created a lot of good scoring chances for us and Addie did a great job putting the ball in the back of the net.”
In the first half, Jersey Shore held the early advantage with its ball control offense.
Despite the ball pressure on its defense, the Eagles’ goalie Charlee Harris notched six saves while its defensive back-third time and time again kept the Jersey offense from finding on open seam.
Midway through the first period, Emily Shiels took the ball on a breakaway attempt and in transition found a wide open Proctor for the goal with 9:36 left in the period.
Both defenses would hold the other one at bay for the final minutes and the home team went into the intermission leading 1-0.
In the second half, the Eagles feasted off their first half momentum and dominated play in the second half.
Again, Proctor was to find the back of the net again at the 23:29 mark, putting the game out of reach and sending them to the title tilt against Central Mountain.
