WINGATE – They were in mid-season form!

From beginning to end Tuesday, the Bald Eagle Area girls volleyball team looked like a team that had played a ton of games instead of just it being their first.

Bald Eagle had an easy time with Central in their opening contest, dropping the Scarlet Dragons in three straight (24-10, 25-9 and 25-16.

Shining strong for the Lady Eagles were senior Gabby Perry (outside), Olivia Taylor (Libero), Emily Silvis (middle) and Leah Bryan (opposite).

Perry and Bryan provided the one-two punch blasting numerous shots past a hardworking Central team.

Perry also did it from the serving line plastering seven service points to add to her strong front game.

Nora Eppley also provided some spark from the service line as she posted nine of her own while teammate Taylor added four.

As did Casey Angellotti en route to the Eagles 3-0 victory.

The win was a special one for the program as rookie head coach Taylor Giedroc as she notched her first victory as the head coach of the Lady Eagles.

“They were awesome! We had two scrimmages and I wasn’t sure how we were going to come out but I thought played strong and did really well together,” said Giedroc. “It looked like we’ve been doing it for a while now.”

In the first set, the Eagles came out ready and raring to go!

Holding an early 3-1 advantage, Bald Eagle started to quickly warm up, outscoring the Dragons by going on a 5-1 run upping the Bald Eagle Area lead to 9-2. Taylor was at the service line for four of those points. The Eagles had the Dragons playing a mostly defensive contest, pushing them to play back on their heels.

The two exchanged six separate side outs, giving the home team a 13-6 advantage.

From there, the Eagles offense not only turned hot but white hot, going on a 4-0 run to put them securely in control 17-6 causing Central to call a time out. In the run, Angellotti served it up and it would be Perry knocking things down from the outside.

Offensively, the Eagles continued to put ups strong front, finishing Central off in game one, 25-10.

“Gabby Perry, she was so solid. She hit from all over,” added Giedroc.

In game two, it was more of the same from the Bald Eagles as they had an answer for everything that the Dragons could throw at them.

Though the second game started out tight at 4-3, the Lady Eagles continued to build up momentum and took their game up another notch, resulting in a 4-0 run.

Again, Perry seemed to be everywhere and was a big contributor to the offensive attack.

Leading 8-3, Bald Eagles went on a small 2-2 exchange before really putting their foot on the gas and exploding for a 7-0 run off the serve of Eppley. In that run, Addelyn Fisher made her presence known blasting a hit and then picking up a crucial block, putting Bald Eagle up by a 17-5 advantage.

That would all that the Eagles needed as it rolled to a convincing 25-9 victory.

Central went down battling in the third and final game, going step-for-step with the Eagles trailing by only one at 14-13.

But the Eagles were not phased as they found a way to extend its lead late and win comfortably 25-16.
