Bald Eagle girls shut out Huntingdon

Off and running.

The Bald Eagle Area girls soccer team notched a Tuesday victory as the Lady Eagles shut out Huntingdon 2-0.

Bald Eagle led in corners by a 4-0 margin while they also led in shots on goal by a 9-8 margin.

Sybil Thompson  scored the first Bald Eagle goal thanks to an assist by Khloe Cunningham at 30:06.

Thompson notched a second goal, this time from Claudia Irvin at 42:15.

“We did well tonight on defense, stopping whatever Huntingdon threw at us. We stepped to the ball well and won the 50/50 balls,” said Bald Eagle Area coach Jared Moore. “Claudia Irvin and Khloe Cunningham were workhorses, making run after run and stretching out their back line. It really opened up the midfield and allowed us to find scoring opportunities. Sybil netted a brace and made the finishes when we needed them. It was just a solid team performance.”

Saves: BEA goalie Makayla Spicer finished with eight.

BEA improves to 6-4-1 overall and 5-4-1 in LHAC action.

Next game for the Eagles is against Clearfield on October 5.

In JV action, Bald Eagle brought home a 2-0 win.

BEA goalie Maddy Smith with 2 saves and a shutout.

Goals came from Savanna Albright (PK) and Lydia Walk (Savanna Albright).

JV Record: 3-1-1
