Bald Eagle girls soccer team holds onto close 1-0 win

In Saturday soccer action, the Bald Eagle Area girls team gutted out a nail biting 1-0 victory over Philipsburg-Osceola.

The Eagles out shot the Mounties 12-4 while it also held a 4-2 advantage in corner opportunities.

Bald Eagle goalie Makayla Spicer finished with four saves while the Mounties Kinley Bemder tallied 11.

Picking up the lone score in the contest was Bald Eagles Adrienne Hacker. Hacker scored off an assist from Sybil Thompson at 54:47.

“The weather was rough today. It was cold and rainy and despite that, the girls found a way to win. We had a lot of good opportunities we didn’t cash in on,” said Bald Eagle coach Jared Moore. “Makayla Spicer made a fantastic save in the first half to tip a high shot over the bar and keep PO from scoring. Adrienne Hacker and Makenzie Bickle controlled the midfield today and the defense was solid and didn’t give up much.  It is always tough to win when the weather is bad but I give the girls a lot of credit for getting the job done against a good PO team.”

With the win, the Eagles record evened at 4-4 overall, 3-4 LHAC.

Next up for the Lady Eagles is a Tuesday contest at Somerset.

In JV action, both team finished with two goals each.

Bald Eagle goalie Maddy Smith finished with one save.

Goals for the Eagles were Lydia Walk from Savanna Albright and a PO own goal.
