Bald Eagle girls win nail biting 3-2 win over Somerset

The Bald Eagle Area girls soccer team muscled out a tough Laurel Highland contest Tuesday defeating Somerset 3-2.

“We came out on fire and popped 2 in the net. Khloe Cunningham worked the ball into the box and earned a pk and Adrienne Hacker finished it. Sybil found Bickle for a great strike and Bick blasted it into the next,” said Bald Eagle Area coach Jared Moore. “She had a great game. The runs she was making were really good. They got an early one on us on a breakaway in the 2nd half and had a nice free kick goal to tie it. But Bick kept working and make a run into the side of the box and hit a rocket cross that went off a Somerset defender for an own goal to gave us the win. The defense locked it up from there. Just a great team win this evening against a good Somerset team.”

Somerset led in corners by a 4-3 margin. They also led in shots on goals by a 12-7 margin.

BEA goalie Makayla Spicer saved 10  while Somerset goalkeeper Sophie Urbain finished with five.

The Eagles got the scoring started on a shot by Adrienne Hacker on a penalty kick at 29:10.

Makenzie Bickle off a pass from Sybil Thompson put the Eagles lead at 2-0 at 35:30.

Somerset tied the game at two while

The Eagles rounded out things with an Own Goal at 62:49.

BEA improved to 5-4 overall, 4-4 LHAC.
