Bald Eagle sweeps Tyrone in Wednesday baseball action

Gavin Burns Hits Multiple Home Runs To Lead Bald Eagle Area Varsity Eagles Past Tyrone

Gavin Burns hit two home runs and drove in four as Bald Eagle Area defeated Tyrone 11-7 on Wednesday. Burns homered in the first and sixth innings.

The Bald Eagles got on the board in the top of the first inning after Burns homered to left field, scoring two runs, and Brayden Dubbs singled, scoring one run.

Bald Eagle added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Burns singled, and Carson Nagle doubled, each scoring one run.

Bald Eagle Area added to their lead with two runs in the top of the sixth inning thanks to home runs by Burns and Tayten Yoder.

Bald Eagle Area scored two runs in the top of the seventh on a home run to left field by Nagle.

Westin McClain earned the win for Bald Eagle Area. The starting pitcher surrendered 12 hits and six runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking three. Landen Postreich stepped on the bump first for Tyrone. The starting pitcher allowed 13 hits and eight runs (six earned) over five innings, striking out three and walking none. Teagun Runkle appeared in relief for Bald Eagle Area.

Bald Eagle Area accumulated 17 hits in the game. Nagle and Burns each drove in four runs for Bald Eagle Area . Kahale Burns, Yoder, McClain, and Kaden Burns each collected multiple hits for Bald Eagle Area .

Tyrone tallied 13 hits in the game. Leadoff hitter Wyatt Kustenboarder led Tyrone with four hits in five at bats. Ryan Light went 2-for-4 at the plate as they led the team with two runs batted in. Brandon McClure and Landen Hamer each collected multiple hits for Tyrone.

In game two, Bald Eagle Area defeated Tyrone 13-3 on Wednesday thanks in part to eight runs in the second inning.  Westin McClain homered to center field, scoring two runs, Gavin Burns drew a walk, scoring one run, Tayten Yoder doubled, scoring two runs, Brayden Dubbs doubled, scoring two runs, and Kaden Burns singled, scoring one run.

Tyrone were the first to get on the board in the first when Landen Hamer singled, scoring one run.

Yoder hit a sacrifice fly, which helped Bald Eagle Area tied the game at one in the bottom of the first.

Tyrone took the lead in the top of the second. Wyatt Kustenboarder doubled, scoring one run, to give Tyrone the upper hand, 2-1.

Bald Eagle Area Varsity added one run in the third after Yoder doubled.

Yoder earned the win for Bald Eagle Area . The starting pitcher allowed eight hits and three runs over five innings, striking out five and walking three. Logan Seeger stepped on the hill first for Tyrone. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and three runs over one inning, striking out none and walking one.

Bald Eagle Area collected nine hits in the game. Yoder provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Bald Eagle Area with four runs batted in. They went 2-for-3 on the day. Yoder, McClain, and Burns each collected two hits for Bald Eagle Area. Bald Eagle Area had a strong eye at the plate, collecting eight walks for the game. Kahale Burns and Connor Perry led the team with two free passes each. Bald Eagle Area turned one double play in the game. Bald Eagle Area were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Burns made the most plays with eight.

AJ Coleman and Kustenboarder were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Tyrone while hitting back-to-back. Brandon McClure, Hamer, and Kustenboarder each drove in one run for Tyrone.

Next up for Bald Eagle is a game at Bishop Guilfoyle on Tuesday.
