BEA survives early strike by Saint Joseph’s Academy

WINGATE – Hold your breath for the thrilling ending.

It was a shot that froze all the onlookers!

With the Bald Eagle boys hanging onto a slim 3-2 lead with seconds left in the contest, Saint Joseph’s Academy lined up for a corner and blasted a shot that curved in midair, hitting the side bar and bounced out to send the Eagles home with the Saturday Morning victory.

“It was a dangerous ball with two seconds left. We gutted out the win. We played a very tough game against Bellefonte this week. We came out flat to start this game,” said Bald Eagle Area coach Jason Bair. “It was evident because they scored on us 1:30 into the game. So trying to get us over that hump was rough but we survived.”

Early in the contest, the two teams found themselves in a shoot out as both teams found the back of the net twice.

Picking up goals for the Wolfpack were Kyle and Sam Yungula.

Picking up first half goals for the Eagles were Carter Stere and Andrew Ream.

Saint Joseph got their goals early on to go ahead in the contest.

But Bald Eagle battled back and by the intermission the two were tied.

In the second half both teams were in a battle to see who would break the tie.

Team would take the game winninggoal, smashing a shot at the 42:40 mark, giving his team the lead 3-2.

From there it would be a back and forth battle at each other’s defensive sides.

It would come down to one final blast, by the Wolves. The shot from the corner clanked the bar and with that the clock sounded, ending the contest.

Early in the season Saint Joseph defeated the Eagles.
