Bearcats and Rams tie after 2OTs

Penns Valley ties Huntingdon 3-3 after Two overtimes in girls soccer action Tuesday.
Penns scored first on a Sydney Riegel penalty kick at 1:49.
Katie Martell with an asst by Hannah Montminy put the Rams up 2-0 at 11:49.
 Hunt cut the lead in half on a Maddie Deforrest goal at the 46:25 mark.
The Bearcats tied things up late in the contest when Heather Gutshall posted a goal on a PK at 64:07.
Huntingdon took the lead for the first time as Mikaela Reed tickled the twine in the final minutes at 70:41.
But the Rams’ Abby Martin made sure the game would go into overtime as she blasted a shot past the Bearcats’ goalie just minutes later at 72:15.
“Under pressure right away, Huntingdon conceded a penalty kick that Sydney Riegel tucked away.  Penns Valley’s second goal came off good work by Hannah Montminy down the right to get a cross back to the far post for Katie Martell to volley home,” Penn’s Valley coach Andrew Beverly said. We had More chances in the first half but no other goals.  Huntingdon started strong in the second half and capitalized on a missed clearance to make it 2-1.  A penalty kick for Huntingdon made it 2-2 and a shot from distance made it 3-2.  Penns Valley responded well and a free kick was scored by senior captain Abby Martin.  Both teams battled in the two overtimes with minimal chances for either side.”
Penn’s Valley led in shots on goal by a 16-11 margin.
Saves: PV goalie Dayna Brown had four saves while Huntingdon’s Katie Shultz had seven.
Corner Kicks were led by Penns Valley by a 5-1 margin.
The JV game was also a tie, this one was a 1-1 contest.

Penns Valley played Bellefonte tonight and won in 3. Scores with PV first 25-16, 25-19, 25-19.
Marissa Stecko lead the team with 10 kills, Peyton Homan had 8 kills. Morgan Kerstetter and Emma Butler lead the defense both with 12 digs.
