Bellefonte girls use fourth quarter to lift themselves to a 9-point victory over Bald Eagle

What a way to get your first win of the season.

It was rivalry time in Centre County Tuesday. This time it was the Bellefonte girls traveling to Bald Eagle Area in basketball.

The young and upstart Raiders found a way to get it done, posting a close 36-27 victory to even its record to 1-2 on the year.

A great win for the team!! We played with poise and battled through some adversity throughout the game. We kept the game close and were able to score 19 points in the fourth quarter to put it away,” said Bellefonte coach Marcus Toomer. “Bald Eagle always plays us tough since it is a rivalry game and they always bring the best out of us. Very proud of our effort.”

Emalee Neff led the charge for Bellefonte, posting a 27-point effort.

The Raiders also got a double-digit effort from Maria Cotter as she chipped in 11.

Despite the loss Abby Hoover had the hot hand by posting 13.

Bald Eagle started the game on a strong note, taking a 12-8 advantage after one.

Both defenses took control in the second when Bellefonte and Bald Eagle combined for Eight total points in the second.

Going into the intermission, Bald Eagle led 15-13.

Both teams tied 4-4 as well in the third quarter, setting the game up for a close final stanza.

Coming out of the third, Toomer had his time ready for the comeback and they responded.

The offense revved up and outscored the Eagles 19-8.
