Bellefonte softball battles tough but falls to DuBois
On Monday, the Bellefonte softball took to the road to do battle with a feisty DuBois team in an afternoon filled with lead changes and timely hitting by both teams.
However, it wouldn’t be the result that the tough, scrappy Lady Raiders squad would like, falling 10-6.
Offensively, Bellefonte got strong efforts by Maria Cotter, Sienna Barnhart and Taylor Brown who all finished with two hits each.
Barnhart also collected a home run in the hard fought loss.
DuBois opened the scoring with a run in the second.
But the Red Raiders rallied back in the third taking the lead with four runs scored in the session.
The Beavers battled back to take the lead back from the Lady Raiders in the bottom of the inning, scoring five.
Back battled the Bellefonte squad as they refused to stay behind, plating two more runs, knotting the game at six in their portion of the fourth.
The momentum switch back to DuBois in the late innings as they scored two in the bottom of the inning and then added two more insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth en route to the victory.
