Bellefonte XC has strong showing at D6 XC champiomships

Recap of Bellefonte’s day at the District 6 XC Championships. 

Girls Race:

Our varsity girls got going right away in their race on Saturday. Natalie Jolley, Emma Liadis and Emma Raish started out towards the front. Swapped positions around, stayed towards the front part of the field the whole race and punched their tickets to Hershey next weekend. Raish earned herself a PR with a time of 21:20 placing 8th. Teammate Jolley was right behind placing 9th with a time of 21:33. Liadis had a time of 22:01 and with a 12th place finish, earning a second trip to Hershey. These three girls have been running up front all season long and they kept it up in the district race. Alyssa Hopkins who had another personal best race placed 13th with a time of 22:24. Anna Tyson (PR 23:02) and Emma Burger (23:15) place 16th and 17th. Senior Ashleigh Aukermann finishes the top 7 for Bellefonte placing 22nd with a time of 23:57. The team placed 2nd with a team score of 58 points finishing behind the 2A District 6 championship team of Central Cambria 21 points.

Boys Race:

Our boys team knew they had a shot at going after the district title on Saturday. Their performance and effort showed it too. Alex Crist ran another great race hanging with some of Central Cambria’s best at the front. Crist completed a new PR of 16:27placing third overall earning himself another trip to Hershey. Joining Crist to Hershey are Teammates Kaiden Williams, Alex Mansfield and Caleb Vinnedge. Williams ran a PR of 17:33 placing 6th in District 6 action with Mansfield right behind placing 7th (17:34). Vinnedge took home a top 10 finish placing 9th (17:56). Freshman Maverick Muchmore placed 11th with a career best of 18:33. Sophomore Elijah Davis placing 12th (PR 18:34) and Senior Keith Eicholtz placing 14th (18:51). The Bellefonte Boys placed second as a team with 36 points. Juniata took the 2A team title with 22 points.

Unseeded 2A Race (Boys and Girls):

There was a third race for our team on Saturday. We had 3 boys and 3 girls who competed in the Unseeded 2A Race. For the boys, Jacob Showers won the race with a season best time of 19:45. Isaiah Johnson placed 2nd with a PR of 19:49 and teammate Ethan Wilson placing 4th (21:21). 

For the girls, Victoria Schellenberg ran a very good race of 22:55 placing second overall. Junior

Alexis Fravel placed third (25:45) and senior captain Josie Underwood placed 4th with a time of 26:15. All six runners earned a medal in the unseeded race. Congratulations!

I cannot say enough how proud I am of both boys and girls teams this season. It definitely will be one to remember!
