Bellefonte XC sweeps both BEA and Bellwood-Antis

Both Bellefonte Cross Country Varsity Teams raced their way to stay undefeated in Section 3 of the Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference. 

Highlights throughout the race for the Red Raiders were Alex Crist cruising to another duel meet victory with a time of 17:45.

Alex Mansfield came ready to race placing 3rd. Caleb Vinnedge was close behind finishing 4th, and Keith Eicholtz placing 6th. Jacob Showers got 5th for our Bellefonte Boys placing 7th, with Maverick Muchmore right behind in 8th place. 

“We marked our first race for the week at Bald Eagle this evening,” said Bellefonte coach Chad Wiler. “Joining us was Bellwood-Antis on this very warm and nice day for a league matchup.”

Emma Liadis was the first Bellefonte girl finisher placing 2nd overall with a time of 24:12. Emma Raish got third overall and Ashleigh Aukerman took 5th with her good run. Anna Tyson edged out Payton Hammond from Bellwood-Antis with a photo finish. Tyson was credited with a 7th place finish. Emma Burger, Natalie Jolley and Alexis Fravel finished out Bellefonte top 7 girls. 

“Today was definitely an example of how much each athlete no matter where they finish, their place matters,” said Wiler. “Team effort, team energy and team encouragement. Congrats to both teams this evening!”

The Bellefonte Junior High Runners were ready to get another race under their belts. Jonathan Gasper and Gunther Kull took 1st and 2nd. Gasper winning time was 9:29 on the 1.55 mile course. Ella Raish won the girls race with a time of 11:42. Emily Moretz got 3rd overall in the girls race.
