Northumberland Christian 64, Belleville Mennonite 20
BELLEVILLE – The Northumberland Christian Warriors put the pedal to the metal offensively and never looked back, defeating the Belleville Mennonite Thunder in ACAA boys basketball action Friday night.
Right from the opening tip of the game, the Warriors would gain possession of the ball and take off running up the court, putting points on the board.
Belleville Mennonite looked to match the pacing of Northumberland Christian. But the Warriors would be prepared as they put the pressure on defensively and forced the Thunder into committing turnovers which Northumberland Christian quickly took back control and immediately sprinted down the court to score.
The Warriors had outscored Belleville Mennonite 45-12 for the entire first half of the game.
The Northumberland Christian defense kept the pressure on the Thunder throughout the second half, getting turnovers and quickly shifting it to another gear hustled down the floor scores.
Belleville Mennonite was held to just eight points combined for the entire second half.
Quinn Renno and Christopher Stoltzfus led the Thunder in scoring with both scoring seven points in the game.
Belleville Mennonite (0-1, 0-1) will travel to face Meadowbrook Christan on Friday in another ACAA matchup.
