Chayce Macknair named PSAC Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

Macknair ran the conference’s top time of the season in the mile this past weekend

Shippensburg University’s Chayce Macknair (Lewistown, Pa./Mifflin County) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday afternoon by the league office after two wins on Saturday at Alvernia’s Plex Invitational.

Macknair won the mile in 4:17.59 and the 800 meters in 2:00.19. Both times satisfied the automatic qualifying standard for the conference championships.

With his performance in the mile, Macknair moved to the top of the conference rankings in the event. He is now ranked atop the league leaderboard in the mile, 3K and 5K.

Macknair is the fourth different Raider to be named the PSAC Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week this season and it is also the third straight week that a Raider has received the award. Drew Dailey was honored last week (Feb. 1); Eric Kirk was honored the week before (Jan. 28) and Stephon Brown was the inaugural award winner on Dec. 7.

Also on Tuesday, Pat Maloney was named the PSAC Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week. Maloney is the first Raider to be named the PSAC Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week since Shamar Jenkins was honored on Feb. 18, 2020
