Eagles top Thunder in Saturday morning contest

WINGATE – Bald Eagle used a strong 4-goal first half to pick up the win over an undermanned Belleville Mennonite boys soccer team to take home the 7-0 victory in a home contest at the Bald Eagle Area High School.

Leading the way for the Eagles was Seth Koleno. The sophomore forward picked up a hat trick with two goals in the first and two in the second period.
Belleville took the opening possession and took it down into the Eagles’ back third but could not continue the pressure and gave the ball over to BEA.
With 27:11 showing on the clock Kelono hit his first goal, taking the early 1-0.
Just minutes later, teammate Jared Gettig picked up a pass and sent it home, upping the Eagle lead to 2-0.
Despite falling behind early, the Thunder had its moments, especially in the goal area.
Peyton Romig had a strong day for BMS in the goal area, finishing with 14 saves in a losing effort.
As the first half started winding down into its last 15 minutes, the Eagles controlled the tempo and pushed the ball back deep into the BMS back-third.
With six minutes left until the intermission, Kelono hit his second to give his team some insurance goals.
But the Eagles had enough time to put another goal in before the half.
Garrett Giedrock gave his team a 4-0 advantage going into the second half.
In the second, Kelono was at the right place at the right time twice, leading his team to a late 6-0 advantage.
Rounding out the scoring on the day was Gettig , making it a 7-0 final.
