Early Lead For Montour Seals Fate For Bellefonte Red Raiders

The Bellefonte Red Raiders  baseball team watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 13-8 loss to Montour on Monday. Montour scored on a error in the first inning and a home run by Brock Janeda in the second inning.

Bellefonte Red Raiders lost despite out-hitting Montour 12 to seven.

Montour fired up the offense in the first inning, when an error scored three runs for Montour.

Bellefonte Red Raiders (Varsity) tallied five runs in the seventh inning. The Red Raiders )offense in the inning was led by Kenny Squires, Derek Fravel, and Dominic Capperella, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Montour scored four runs in the fifth inning. Nick Walker and Mason Sike powered the big inning with RBIs.

Dylan Mathiesen earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Montour. The fireballer lasted six innings, allowing seven hits and three runs while striking out six and walking one. Ryan Gallagher, Chris Tarquinio, and Sike all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory.

Fravel took the loss for Bellefonte. Fravel went four innings, allowing six runs on three hits and striking out four.

The Red Raiders socked two home run on the day. Squires put one out in the third and seventh innings.

Bellefonte tallied 12 hits in the game. Squires, Fravel, Braedyn Kormanic, Peyton Vancas, and Josh Brown all managed multiple hits for Bellefonte Red Raiders (Varsity). Squires led Bellefonte Red Raiders (Varsity) with three hits in four at bats.

Zac Stern went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Montour in hits.
