East Juniata boys outlast Newport

The East Juniata boys basketball team pulled out a very tough defensive contest against Newport Friday. The Tigers gutted out a 37-33 contest.

Leading the way for the Tigers were Wrett Smith who netted 13 while teammate Clark Ritzman finished with 11.

The Tigers started off the contest with a 13-5 advantage over the Buffaloes.

However, Newport battled back in the second to pull close to East Juniata, outscoring the Tigers 12-6.

Newport jumped into the lead in the third, keeping the momentum going in the third.

As the two went into the final stanza, the Tigers trailed 27-22.

But the fourth quarter belonged to the Tigers as they completed the comeback, outscoring the Buffaloes 15-6.
