East Juniata opens 2022 with strong win over Newport

The East Juniata boys basketball team roared into the New Year posting a 59-35 win over Newport Tuesday.
Leading the way for the Tigers on the night was Tanner Barth’s 19-point effort.
Teammate Owen Dressler also posted double digits with an 11-point evening.
Rounding out the top East Juniata scorers was Jake Brackbill with 10.
Newport got 13 points from Danny Bellis.
East Juniata got out to a strong 14-4 start, going into the second period.
The Tigers used its defense in the second as well as the Buffaloes as well. East Juniata led the period by a 9-6 margin.
Going into the final stanza, the Tigers posted 20 en route to the victory.
