East Juniata softball tops Midd-West in five-inning runaway

On Monday night, the East Juniata softball team 10-runned Midd-West 17-7.

The Tigers were led by Allison Beaver who struck out four, walked one, scattered 13 hits and allowed only three runs.

After a shaky start, Beaver settled in and helped her team end the game in only five innings.

Winning Catcher was Lydia Hunter who allowed zero passed ball; 4 Stolen Bases.

Beaver went 3-4 with a double and 2 RBI’s while Gabel also went 3-4 with a double. Marker rounded out the 3-4 performances with 2 RBI’s.

“Offensively we played aggressive with 29 Stolen bases on the night,” East Juniata coach Joe Schilling said.  “We had some mishaps early on in the first inning, the girls stayed focused and never lost control.”   Midd-West opened the scoring with four runs in the first inning. However, East Juniata battled back with eight.

East Juniata’s defense held tough in the second while its offense picked up its ninth run of the young contest.

In the third, the Tigers’ defense came up strong again posting another run while holding the Mustangs scoreless.

Midd-West added three runs in the fourth, cutting into the East Juniata lead while it picked up yet another run.
