Eight Lion Wrestlers Ranked by Intermat in Latest Release

Penn State now ranked No. 7 in Intermat’s TPI

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; January 6, 2015 – The Penn State Nittany Lion wrestling team, under the guidance of head coach Cael Sanderson, now has eight individuals ranked national as Intermat has released its latest national release. Sanderson’s team is also ranked No. 7 in Intermat’s Tournament Power Index (TPI).

Junior Jordan Conaway (Abbottstown, Pa.) is ranked No. 8 at 125 with a 13-2 record.  Sophomore Jimmy Gulibon (Latrobe, Pa.) is ranked No. 10 at 133 with a 12-2 mark.  Sophomore Zack Beitz (Mifflintown, Pa.) is 8-4 at 149 and ranked No. 17.  Senior Dylan Alton (Mill Hall, Pa.) is ranked No. 8 at 157 and is 5-2 overall.

Senior Matt Brown (West Valley City, Utah) is ranked No. 4 at 174 and is 12-2 on the year. Red-shirt freshman Matt McCutcheon (Apollo, Pa.) returned to the national rankings at 184 in the No. 16 spot with a 16-6 record. Junior Morgan McIntosh (Santa Ana, Calif.) is 14-1 at 197 and ranked No. 4.  Senior Jimmy Lawson (Toms River, N.J.) debuts in the rankings at 285 at No. 6 with a 7-0 mark.

The Nittany Lions are 5-0 on the year, 1-0 in Big Ten dual action, and is coming off winning its fifth-straight Southern Scuffle title on Jan. 1-2.
