Flashback : EJ girls top Newport Wednesday

NEWPORT – The East Juniata girls softball team picked up its third win of the season Wednesday as they topped Newport on the road 7-5.
The Tigers opened the contest by scoring two runs in the first and then exploded five in the sixth for the Tri-Valley League victory.
However, it wasn’t an easy victory for East Juniata as it had to rally late from a 5-2 deficit before pulling out the victory.
Meghan McNaughten picked up the win for the Tigers while Allison Beaver got the save.
McNaughten allowed five hits, striking out two and walked five.
Newport’s Bailey Houtz took the loss.
East Juniata’s offense were led by Breana Dysinger who went 3 -for- 3, with a double, Allison Beaver who finished with a 3-for-4 evening as well Shanel Eaton who also 3-for-4.
The Newport bats were led by Bailey Houtz who went 3-4 with 2 doubles and Shelby Anderson’s 1-for-3 1 triple evening.
Picking up RBIs for E.J. were Allison Beaver (1), Breana Dysinger (2), Brooke Erney( 1), Meghan McNaughton (1), Lily Weges (1) and
Paris Feltman (1).
