Abby Wagner Named PSAC Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
Wagner posted a pair of personal bests in jumps, ranks among nation’s best in triple jump
Sophomore Abby Wagner (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week Tuesday afternoon by the league office after a pair of personal bests at George Mason.
Wagner has been consistently successful this outdoor season and continued to showcase outstanding form last Saturday at the Division I-laden George Mason Invitational, posting PRs in both of her jumps.
In the triple jump, Wagner enhanced her PR to 40 feet, 5 inches, placing fourth at the meet. She continues to pace the PSAC and now ranks 12th on the NCAA Division II performance list. Wagner has now posted three consecutive 40-foot triple jumps to start the outdoor season.
In the long jump, Wagner crushed her personal best on an impressive mark of 18 feet, 9 ¼ inches that was narrowly shy of the NCAA provisional standard. Wagner improves to fourth on the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) performance list with the effort.
Tuesday’s award is the first PSAC weekly honor of Wagner’s career.
