Foxpro victorious over Lamont

By Joshua Yoder
LEWISTOWN – Rec park was filled up with excitement as Foxpro took control early on and never looked back in its 13-7 victory over the Lamont Ducks Thursday evening.
It didn’t take long for the Predators to get onto the board as during the bottom half of the first inning, Ethan Eichhorn smacked a single to left that brought home his little brother Landen before Landon Black drove in both Rylan Bailey and Ethan Eichhorn to make it a 3-0 ballgame.
Foxpro managed to score two more runs in the next inning in large part due to a throwing error at third trying to get a double play which allowed Josh Rosefsky and Landen Eichhorn to score making it a 5-0 lead.
But the Ducks’ offense started quacking in the top half of the third inning as they scored three runs in the frame. Logan Hall got it going with a two run triple that cut the lead down to 5-2. Oakley Whitesel grounded out to second but still managed to bring in Hall to make it 5-3.
However, Foxpro scored a big inning offensively in the bottom of the fourth inning scoring five runs. Bailey got it started with a two RBI single scoring Kristian Bulick and Xavier Smith. Ethan Eichhorn then doubled in Landen and Bailey before Evan Pupo hit a SAC fly to bring home Ethan making it 10-3.
The Ducks responded in the top of the fifth with three runs. After a lead-off double by Darian Herncane, Alec Lose smacked him in with a single. Next it was Oakley Whitesel’s turn and he provided a triple that scored Lose. Whitesel later came home on a double by Tucker Triebold making it a 10-6 game.
The Predators came back with a three run inning of their own in the bottom half of the same inning. A double by Rosefsky scored Black before a wild pitch allowed JP Pannizzo to cross home plate. Finally a double from Smith brought home Rosefsky to make the score 13-6.
Lamont managed to add on one more run in the top of the sixth inning thanks to a double by Lose that brought home Cameron Aungst to make it 13-7. But that would be as close as the Ducks were able to get.
At the plate, Foxpro was led by Smith who went 3-for-4 with a double and collected an RBI. Landen Eichhorn was 2-for-3, big brother Ethan was 2-for-4 which included a double and had three runs batted in. Rosefsky also had a multi hit game going 2-for-2 with an RBI and a double.
On the mound, Connor Cherry got the start and pitched the first five innings of the game for the Predators and collected seven strikeouts before Landen Eichhorn finished the final two innings and had four strikeouts.
For the Ducks, they were led by Lose who was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a double. Triebold also had multiple hits at the plate going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a double. Cameron Aungst went 2-for-3.
Noah Aungst got the start on the mound for Lamont and went four innings and had seven strikeouts. Herncane came in to pitch in the fifth inning but did not record an out which prompted the Ducks to bring in Alex Singer who finished the fifth inning. Finally Brandon Lingenfelter pitched the last inning for the Ducks where he recorded two strikeouts.
Foxpro will look to get a winning streak going as they hit the road on Sunday morning at 11:30 a.m. and will due battle with the Spike Island Pirates.
Meanwhile, Lamont looks to get back into the win column as they will host the Blanchard Bees today at 6 p.m.
